DVR mourns sudden loss of IT staff member
Jeffrey Dwayne Hebb, 61, a dedicated and beloved member of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation IT Unit within the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly the night of June 7, 2021.
Based at Puyallup DVR for nearly seven years, Jeffrey was an integral part of the DVR IT Field Team. He provided excellent customer service to all the DVR offices along the Tacoma/Seattle I-5 Corridor, often times meeting face-to-face with staff as much as possible.
In addition, Jeffrey served as DVR’s liaison to Dell making sure all customer computer orders were processed and tracked. Jeffrey’s DVR work family will miss his humor and laughter and his perseverance to learn and grow in his skills.
Prior to starting at WA DVR on Dec. 1, 2014, Jeffrey served a non-permanent position for the Children’s Administration (now Department of Children, Youth, and Families), where he began his Washington State service on Aug. 18, 2014.
Jeffrey was born in Nashville on November 14, 1959. He was a strong man who raised his family to believe in themselves and to understand the value of committing to something and following through.
He thoroughly enjoyed listening to and performing music. He played the bass guitar with zest and zeal. Jeffrey’s family will miss his infectious laugh and smile and the mischievous grin he expressed each time he arrived home bearing something new. Words of wisdom Jeffrey’s daughter remembers her Dad imparting to her every day: “Remember who you are, and be aware of your surroundings.”
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Kay Hebb; his daughters, Jada Hebb and Mandy Morris; four grandchildren, Shelby, Jordan, Kaytlynn and Kevin; his mother, Ovalla Davidson; and five siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
