DSHS continues its equity journey with Truth to Action: Elevating Voices Virtual Tour

--

DSHS is on a journey to becoming an anti-racist, equitable, transformational organization. At the direction of Secretary Cheryl Strange, the department selected the equity tools of truth, social justice and dismantling racism to implement the steps outlined in a Three-Year Action Plan to move the needle on equity, diversity and inclusion in DSHS.

A vital component to ensure the success of this journey includes gathering the thoughts and ideas of DSHS employees. Beginning Tuesday, March 2, the DSHS Office of Diversity and Inclusion kicks off the Truth to Action: Elevating Voices Virtual Tour together with other DSHS staff who work in equity, diversity and inclusion roles. The tour will elevate the voices of employees and inform the shape of DSHS’ culture.

The first step in this tour is 90-minute Zoom conversations for all DSHS staff that will take place throughout March and into the second week of April. Please pre-register by going to the SharePoint site and finding the date that works best for you. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

CART captioning services will be available at all sessions. Reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities are available upon request. If you need accommodation, please send an email with as much detail as possible to Helen Henera at helenmarge.henera@dshs.wa.gov. Please also include a way we can contact you if we need more information, and allow at least two weeks (14 days) advance notice whenever possible. Last-minute requests will be accepted but may not be possible.

You can learn more about the Truth, Social Justice and Dismantling Racism three-year action plan as well as which objectives your particular area of the agency is working on by contacting your EDI Administrator.
