A life of service: ‘Work of the Heart’ highlights DSHS employees at Lakeland Village

In his famous “Drum Major Instinct” sermon on Feb. 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. talks about a life of service.

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve,” he said. “You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. …You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.”

As public servants, DSHS staff are committed to transforming lives and making their communities a better place by providing access to critical care and human services to all Washingtonians.
